Some interesting links I found
Every morning I take some time to visit http://weblogs.asp.net before I get into the nitty-gritty of my daily life at work.
There are some interesting links I’d like to share, some are on Silverlight (which is getting me excited) , others are on two new code-names that were released just recently at the MIX07 conference.
Some of my thoughts on Silverilght.
Microsoft has yet to come out and say: “Silverlight is the Flash
Killer”, but many developers know it’s going on this track. Like Flash, it is a plug-in that has to be
installed on the browser, and it has to be treated as much. There are a lot of
rumours out there on what Silverlight can do. I’ve seen rumours such as: “Silverlight
will allow you to stream a DVD from the servers E: drive into 1/1,000 the
original size, but keep the same picture quality.” I wont dissolve the blog where
I saw that but I will say: “Give your head a shake.”
Silverlight will enable ASP.NET developers to integrate their work directly with Silverlight. That means no more writing massive amounts of Web Services (like you would if you wanted Flash to work with .NET), I’ve never been a fan of having a lot of web services just kicking around so your website can function better.
If you want to install Silverlight go here. You’ll also find some tools on Silverlight here.
